Dr. Patrick Rowe is the Vice President of Research and Development
at re and joined the company in January, 2008. In this role, Patrick is responsible for overseeing the technical direction of the Company's research and development projects, generating new business via the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, and identifying new avenues of technology development to continue the growth of re.

Patrick has over 15 years of practical experience in all applications of field and ground robotics. His specific areas of expertise include unmanned ground vehicle navigation and path planning, laser sensor processing, computer vision, robotic manipulation and control, and overall system integration of complete robotic vehicles.

Before joining re, Patrick was a Senior Research Scientist with Applied Perception, Inc., now a subsidiary of Foster-Miller, and a Commercialization Specialist at Carnegie Mellon's National Robotics Engineering Center. In both of his previous positions, Patrick has successfully proposed and led numerous multi-million dollar robotics projects for both government and commercial customers. These projects include rescuing wounded soldiers from the battlefield, developing interchangeable payloads for small robot platforms, designing user interfaces for multi-vehicle command and control, automated forklifts, and technologies for autonomous excavation equipment.

Patrick holds 5 patents and is the recipient of the 2006 U.S. Army Quality Award for the Small Business Innovation Research program. Patrick received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University.
