Electrical Engineer/Embedded Systems Engineer (Full-Time)
The Electrical Engineer/Embedded Systems Engineer position is a critical part of the RE2 Electrical Engineering team and works closely with the VP of Engineering, the electrical engineering team and the other engineering disciplines on a variety of robotics engineering projects - including, but not limited to Advanced Robotic Manipulator Arm Systems and Unmanned Ground Vehicles. The EE/ESE will contribute to the design, analysis, and testing of electrical systems; PCB design and development; Embedded networking and communication design; Motion control system design and analysis; Software design and coding of embedded systems; Software development for a Linux OS. This position requires the ability to juggle multiple projects with a can-do attitude.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of previous Electrical/Computer Engineering performing analysis, testing and/or design work.
- Knowledge of C Programming.
- Embedded Systems Design, including hardware design, software design and programming.
- Experience with Altium CAD tools, or equivalent PCB design software.
- In-depth understanding of microcontrollers, embedded communication/protocols and digital logic.
- Knowledge of Embedded Systems Tools such as emulators, compilers, simulators, etc.
- Ability to debug embedded circuits using common test equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and leadership potential.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated, team player with positive attitude.
Desired Skills, Experience and Knowledge
- Object-Oriented Programming (C++, Java or equivalent)
- Controller Area Network (CAN) Communications
- Motors, drive electronics, feedback sensors and control system design
- Analog circuit design, including power supplies, amplifiers, filters, signal conditioners, etc.
- Design with batteries of various chemistries, chargers, DC-DC converters, etc.
- Background in Robotics Engineering
- Labview programming
- Programming for a Linux OS, which may include kernel and device driver programming
- Strong understanding of grounding, shielding and system wiring.
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Entry level candidates should have either strong electrical engineering and embedded course work experience or strong co-op experience with embedded systems.

Software Engineer (Full-Time)
RE2 is seeking a Software Engineer to work on a fast-paced team of developers both on site and off site to create efficient and effective software for embedded and Windows environments. This position focuses on the development of communications between ground control stations and next generation Unmanned Air Vehicles. In this role, you will be working with a distributed team of software engineers using progressive approaches to software development that emphasize continuous integration, unit tests, and code reviews to help ensure production-quality software. For this role, we are looking for an individual with a proven track record of creative approaches to difficult design problems who can work efficiently individually and as a member of a team. A strong work ethic and a good sense of humor is a must.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop Windows and embedded software using C++ and C#
- Design and develop well-documented and testable software components
- Perform Design Reviews, Code Reviews, and write Unit Tests
- Collaborate with remote developers / testers working on the same project
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3+ years experience in C++
- Some experience with C#
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired
- Experience with Scrum or Agile development methodology
- Experience with the Microsoft tool chain
- Demonstrated initiative and analytical thinking style
- Familiarity with the NATO STANAG 4586 standard

Mechanical Technician (Full-Time)
The Mechanical Technician position is a critical part of the RE2 team and works closely with Supervisors, Machinists, Electrical Technicians, and Engineers to fabricate and assemble prototype / one-off jobs and low-volume, production robotic systems -- including, but not limited to, Advanced Robotic Manipulator Arms and Unmanned Ground Vehicles. In addition to fabrication and assembly, the Mechanical Technician will also be responsible for communicating issues with drawings to engineering, maintaining shop equipment and organizing the shop. This position requires the ability to juggle multiple projects with a can-do attitude. Additional tasks and duties may be assigned.
Education
- (Minimum) High School Diploma
- (Desired) Two year degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent
Required Skills and Experience
- Working knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to assemble complex mechanisms
- Milling, lathing, welding, and sheet metal experience.
- Ability to read and annotate mechanical/machine drawings and schematics
- Ability to follow engineering documentation processes and procedures (able to maintain accurate and detailed records)
- Ability to use a variety of tools, including machine shop equipment
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment
- Excellent organization and cleanliness in shop
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with company employees
- Good oral communication skills
- Able to stand for up to 8 hours, lift 25+ lbs, be dependable, and on time each day
- 1+ years of related experience
