Embedded Systems Engineer/Robotics Engineer (Full-Time Permanent)

The Embedded Systems Engineer/Robotics Engineer position is a critical part of the RE2 Electrical Engineering team and works closely with the VP of Engineering, the electrical engineering team and the other engineering disciplines on a variety of robotics engineering projects - including, but not limited to Advanced Robotic Manipulator Arm Systems and Unmanned Ground Vehicles. The ESE/RE will contribute to the design, analysis, and testing of electrical systems; PCB design and development; Embedded networking and communication design; Motion control system design and analysis; Software design and coding of embedded systems; Software development for a Linux OS. This position requires the ability to juggle multiple projects with a can-do attitude.  

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Entry level candidates should have either strong electrical engineering and embedded course work experience or strong co-op experience with embedded systems.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 1+ years of previous Electrical/Computer Engineering performing analysis, testing and/or design work.
  • Knowledge of C Programming.
  • Embedded Systems Design, including software design and coding.
  • Knowledge of Embedded Systems Tools such as emulators, compilers, simulators, etc.
  • In-depth understanding of microcontrollers, embedded communication/protocols and digital logic.
  • Ability to debug embedded circuits using common test equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership potential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated, team player with positive attitude.

Desired Skills, Experience and Knowledge

  • Object-Oriented Programming (C++, Java or equivalent)
  • Controller Area Network (CAN) Communications
  • Altium CAD tools, or equivalent PCB design software
  • Motors, drive electronics, feedback sensors and control system design
  • Analog circuit design, including amplifiers, filters, signal conditioners, etc.
  • Design with batteries of various chemistries, chargers, DC-DC converters, etc.
  • Robotics Engineering
  • Labview programming
  • Programming for a Linux OS, which may include kernel and device driver programming
  • Ability to work with suppliers in the application and design of electronic components

Software Engineer (Full-Time Permanent)

The Software Engineer will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team working on designing and implementing robotic systems, including manipulator arms and mobile robotic vehicles. The position requires knowledge of hardware systems and mechatronics.  Integration experience with third-party technologies is a plus. Candidate must have strong coding skills with a computer science or engineering background, good writing and communication capabilities, and independent decision-making ability.

Education

  • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Entry level candidates should have either strong software engineering course work experience or strong co-op experience with software engineering.

Requirements

  • C++ programming experience in a Linux or Windows development environment
  • Excellent analytical problem solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of software debugging tools
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet inflexible deadlines;
  • Able to manage personal schedule to accommodate work demands
  • Willing to follow organizational software standards
  • 1+ years of experience
  • US citizenship required

Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering Intern

Education

  • Second year or above, majoring in a related field
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA

Job Description
The EE/CE internship will allow students in related fields the opportunity to work alongside our EE team on numerous military and civilian projects including Unmanned Ground Vehicles, Robotic Nursing Assistants, and Next-Generation Robotic Manipulators. This internship will be tailored to the student's individual strengths and interests with potential tasks including: Schematic Capture/PCB Layout, Firmware Development, Control System Design, Labview Development, and Prototype Assembly and Wiring. Internship candidates should be extremely self-motivated and capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking team environment. Internship is a part-time or full-time, paid position, minimum of 16 hours/week, lasting between 3 and 6 months.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Programming background
  • Circuit design experience
  • Working knowledge of hardware/system debugging using common test equipment
